Cannot install mods manually unless I first log to Nexusmods to receive an API key If you try to manually install mods without receiving an API key from Nexusmods, NMM will fail to install or crash. Logs included Environment
To Reproduce
Additional information If you have registered your API key from Nexusmods, the above will work fine. It will work even if you have firewalled NMM and you appear as Not logged in due to network error, as long as you had temporarily unfirewalled NMM to receive your key. |

This is happening because NMM tries to get info about the manually added mods, and I never considered the case of not being authenticated when doing this. Thanks for the trace log, will help with getting it fixed. |

How does one get an api key from. The nexus? Because I'm. Having this same error and newest version of nmm community has the same problem. |
commented May 31, 2019
@Midgard229, if you can download mods via NMM then you already have your key. Otherwise, click on the icon at the bottom left of the NMM window. If it doesn't work, then you have firewalled NMM. |

![Nexus mod manager not working fallout new vegas Nexus mod manager not working fallout new vegas](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123719113/390753713.jpg)

I've recently started to play Skyrim again and I've wen't to mod it however, I am unable to download anything from nexusmods.com - this issue has nothing to do with a mod manager (NMM, Mod organiser, etc), it is an issue on the website itself.
I've tried downloading skyrim mods and fallout 4 mods so I know it's not an issue with downloading for a certain game I've tried with and without a VPN so I know that isn't the issue I've tried on multiple browsers so I know chrome or my extensions aren't the issue
Anything I can find online is solving a problem with someones choice of mod manager so I am unable to find something relevant to my problem. I have a screenshot of the issue, it's the same no matter what I try to download for any game.
Edit: I am able to download some mods by going to the mod page, going into the files, and opening the 'download manually' link in a new tab however this doesn't work with a lot of mods I wish to use so this won't work long term. Any time there is a green button between me and the mod, I won't be able to download it; be that button asking me to donate to the mod author or advising what other mods I need. I've also tried the help on this subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/nexusmods/comments/6ue4g5/for_those_of_you_having_issues_downloading_from/) and it hasn't helped either

Nexus
Overview
This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through installing the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) on your system. Acronis slow to cancel itunes.
Installation
The NMM download page
- Go to the NMM download page
NMM is now a community project, and its development /support has been moved to GitHub:
- Releases (Downloads)
- Issues
- Save the file to your hard-drive like you would any other file you download
- Run the installer program you just downloaded. If you get a warning about running the program from your operating system or anti-virus, you must allow the program to run. NMM is completely safe!
- Select the language you would like the installation process to use. Note: this does not affect NMM once it is installed.
- The installer wizard should pop up after you hit ok. Hit “next”.The installer wizard
- Read the license agreement and click accept if you agree to the standard GPL terms.
- Now you have the choice of where you want to install NMM. It is highly recommended that you use the default install path. Click “next” to continue.
- You now have the option to create a start menu folder. If you do not want to have one created, then click on the box that says “Don’t create a Start Menu folder”. Click “next” to continue.
- Now you have the choice to set file extension associations. It is highly recommended you keep the default settings selected else NMM might not work as intended.
- Now you have the chance to review what you are about to install. If you are happy with your selections, hit “install” and the program will begin installing.
- Your installation of NMM should now be complete. You have the choice to launch NMM when you click finish, simply uncheck the box if you do not want it to open after you exit the installer. Click “finish” to exit the installer.File associations
A new 'Nexus mod manager' button should be visible on your desktop, as long as you did not turn off the option during the installation process. You can run NMM from any time using this button.
